Product Class

The same soft, naturally shaped, AVENT nipple, but designed for thicker liquids with a variable flow rate. This nipple has one laser-cut slot instead of holes, so you can vary between 3 flow rates while baby is drinking. Simply turn the bottle to line up the marking on the side of the nipple with babys nose, so that the thicker liquid flows owing to at the right speed. The higher the number, the wider the opening. Note: Do not use Variable Flow nipples as an alternative to the Slow, Medium and Quick Flow nipples, as marking I is quicker than the Quick Flow nipple. These nipples are not intended for babies who are by now drinking independently. Variable Flow Rate is ideal for babies 3m+.

This is quite ingenious! I don't know if any other manufacturers have them, but they are such a fantastic thought. Instead of a hole there is a slot in the top. Around the side are the marks I,II and III. You line up the marks with the baby's nose and that dictates how quick the flow of milk is. This teat allows a thicker liquid to flow owing to so you can add rice or another cereal of your choice if you need to. My baby is in the 90th percentile and at 8 weeks ancient Milk just wasn't enough. I place 1 tablespoon of rice in with 4 ounces of milk initially and then later on increased that to 2 tablespoons (all with doctor's approval). It is a much thicker liquid but flowed owing to this teat easily. I highly recommend these.
saves money

When my 2month small boy started on rice in his bottle I must have gone owing to 15 playtex nipples just trying to get the hole cut not to huge not to small I had enough. I went to the avent web site and it was publicity a thicker flow nipple, so I changed bottles, and got these nipples. They saved me money, (not only on nipples but on liner)but most vital no more upset stomics from eating too quick for my small one.

I'm a first time mother of twins that are so different. One likes to drink his milk quick and quick they other takes his time. At first I had all types of different holes in the nipples some would be too huge for one baby or too small for the other. This nipple is the BEST! IT'S PERFECT! It has 3 different ways of flow feeding, so it works with both my boys.
I replaced every nipple I had with these. Really THE BEST NIPPLE!
Just what we needed!

My small one is a serious spitter. At four months our pediatrician recommended we thicken his milk (both formula and articulated breast milk) with cereal, and it works fantastic! The variable flow nipple is the only nipple I have found that lets owing to the thickened milk. At first we used the slow flow (I) spot of the nipple and now we use the quick flow (III) spot. I like that this nipple grows with my baby and we do not have to buy new nipples every couple of months. Unfortunately, Avent does not have a variable flow nipple for the disposable system. I further found the variable flow nipples hard to find. A lot of baby stores do not sell them. I was pleased to see that I could by them on this website!
Brilliant Nipple!

This nipple is best used for babies 4-6 months and older since of the quick flow. It is especially excellent when you are using cereal in the bottle; the slant opening helps the milk flow better when it is accompanied with cereal (or a thicker flow). As a matter of fact, this is virtually the only time I use the nipple. If your baby is older than 6 months (or a heavy eater via the bottle), it's also best to use the "Quick Flow (4)" nipple without cereal. They last a very long time and you won't be disappointed!
